Lent Course 2014

Lent Course 2014 ~ JUST PEOPLE?

In conjunction with Christchurch URC and Holy Trinity Rayleigh, we are running a six-week interactive course looking at compassion, justice and how your church can effect change locally and globally. This course is brought to us by Tearfund.

There are 4 opportunities each week to take part in this course, and they should be interchangable:
Tuesdays: 10am Christchurch URC, Crown Hill, or 8pm at our Methodist Church from 11/3 to 15/4/14
Wednesdays: 1:30pm & 7:30pm Holy Trinity - Parish Rooms from 12/3 to 16/4/14.

All Are welcome to attend at any of our venues and times.

'Just People was great. It helped me and a small group of people look at our local community and ask the question "does God care?"

Micah 6:8: ‘He has shown you what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.’

Underpinning thinking

* The Church does not have justice high enough up its agenda.
* A strong biblical and theological basis is important for social activism.
* A sense of mission is vital to healthy church
* Practical engagement is a great way to learn.
* The challenge of Jesus is uncomfortable .
* The road to a deeper and more radical walk of faith is often taken in small steps.
* Living out lives of justice, mercy and humility is profoundly evangelistic.
* We have a major opportunity in the Church at this time for joined up mission.
